Bally Manufacturing began in 1932 as a pinball and slot machine manufacturer in Chicago, but quickly grew to encompass several industries. They would buy-out Midway Games in 1969, who at the time was an independent manufacturer of mechanical arcade games. Following the success of Pong, both companies began making Pong-Clones, with Midway eventually becoming the more specialized group to take over the creation of high quality video-arcade games.
