Draughts
July 1952
Ferranti Mark 1
Oh boy this is going to be a bit of a controversial one.... Draughts, otherwise known as checkers, was first developed by Christopher Strachey in 1951/52. He originally tried to run the program on the Pilot ACE, but was unsuccessful, and ultimately ported it over to the Ferranti Mark 1, finishing it in July of 1952 with the help and encouragement of Allen Turing.
